Dessert…as an appetizer? That’s how one diner described Il Palio‘s renowned sea salt and rosemary focaccia bread. A hallmark of Il Palio’s menu, the focaccia embodies all the qualities of regional Italian cooking–simplicity, balance and epic flavor.

Step into the kitchen with Chef Teddy Diggs, executive chef at Il Palio, as he unveils the secrets to this mouth-watering dish and answers the question that everyone keeps asking: how does he get two quarts of olive oil in that ball of dough!?

We love watching an artisan ply his craft!

Raleigh PR Agency Represents Top Autograph Collection Hotel in the Americas

Clairemont Communications, a full-service public relations agency with a focus on blending traditional communications and social media, has been named agency of record for Il Palio and The Siena Hotel Autograph Collection, the Triangle’s longest-standing AAA-rated Four Diamond restaurant and hotel.

Located in Chapel Hill, N.C., The Siena Hotel selected Clairemont to devise a long-term public relations strategy and spearhead communications during a major renovation to Il Palio, the boutique hotel’s premiere Italian restaurant. The Siena recently secured the Hotel of the Year Award for the Autograph Collection in the Americas by Marriott International.

“As we revitalize our classic ambience to showcase our modern feel, we understand the challenges of commanding the attention of fresh audiences,” said Anthony Carey, general manager, The Siena Hotel. “With a proven track record of creating award-winning PR campaigns, Clairemont is the ideal choice to escort us through this next phase of growth.”

Upon re-opening in September, Chef Diggs will debut an expanded menu designed to highlight regional Italian cooking and reflect discoveries from his culinary tour of Italy, such as hand-made pastas and simple, rustic flavors expertly crafted with the wood-fired grill.

“We’re honored to work with The Siena Hotel to reintroduce Il Palio to its loyal customer base as well as to open the doors to a new generation of diners and foodies in the Triangle,” said Dana Hughens, chief executive officer, Clairemont Communications.

Trends Tuesday: Behind-the-Scenes with Papa Spud’s

Trends Tuesday: Behind-the-Scenes with Papa Spud’s

March 24, 2015January 31, 2023 Tracy LathanBlog, Clairemont Client News, Trendscommunity supported agriculture, CSA, delivery services, delivery subsriptions, media relations, Public Relations

The Triangle Business Journal snapped this shot at the Papa Spud’s media breakfast and ran it as the Photo of the Day.

Last week in our Trends Tuesday post, we touched on the growing trend of online subscription delivery services. Let’s be honest…who doesn’t love when something is delivered to your door or when a package arrives. It’s like Christmas morning in the middle of the week!

We are all busy people, and the convenience factor of doorstep delivery is huge. One of our client’s, Papa Spud’s, is a North Carolina CSA (Community Supported Agricultural) service that delivers local, seasonal groceries straight to your door—from fresh produce, dairy and meat to granola, chocolate and jams. For those of us that like to buy local products but don’t have time to make it to the farmers’ market, local fish house or bakery each week, Papa Spud’s is a great option.

Tuesday mornings are a fury of activity at the Papa Spud’s warehouse, and we invited some local media members to see it for themselves. Produce and food items are being delivered, boxes are being packed and sorted and delivery vehicles are being loaded. On the morning of our event we had an unexpected snowstorm, so there was even more activity as the team tried to determine if the deliveries could still be made.

After sampling some tasty treats and coffee,  Papa Spud’s founder and owner, Rob Meyer, shared how the company was started. The media attendees were able to watch the team in action to really see and understand how the produce makes it from the farm to the box on your doorstep, in less than 48 hours. They were able to see firsthand that the demand in the Triangle for locally sourced food products is growing, and that the convenience factor is really attractive for busy families.

Have you tried a delivery subscription service? What products do you wish would show up on your doorstep each week?

During a team lunch yesterday, we enjoyed a scrumptious treat. PDQ, one of our clients, has recently unveiled its newest seasonal shake, Toffee Coffee. Ready for the official review? The taste is mind-blowing. Decadent toffee pieces mix with the layers of rich coffee flavor for an indulgent melt-in-your-mouth experience. I have to warn you: this shake may lead to instantaneous happiness as well as an uncontrollable need to sing, dance and “shake” it out! We certainly couldn’t resist!

Craving it already? PDQ, a fresh, fast-casual restaurant, offers multiple locations throughout the Triangle, plenty of opportunities to get your “toffee fix”! And please join us in congratulating PDQ as it opens its newest location this Sunday, February 8, in Winston-Salem. (Lucky Winston-Salem!)

Be sure to pop by PDQ and “Shake It Off” with a little Toffee Coffee this weekend.

Clients Who Care: Papa Spud’s

Clients Who Care: Papa Spud’s

December 24, 2014January 31, 2023 Tracy LathanBlog, Case Studies, Clairemont Client News, Sustainabilitycharitable giving, Papa Spud's, Public Relations, sustainable food

In the spirit of holiday giving, “Clients Who Care” is a blog series that recognizes some of the recent acts of kindness and caring demonstrated by Clairemont clients. We hope these stories inspire you to be charitable this holiday season and throughout 2015. Happy Holidays!

Having been a supporter of the CSA box delivery concept for years, I was thrilled when we got the opportunity to work with Papa Spud’s. For those of you not familiar, Papa Spud’s is a farm to fork delivery service that has been serving the Triangle since 2008. The team works with more than 50 local farmers and artisans to fill community supported agriculture (CSA) boxes each week. Unlike other CSA services, Papa Spud’s offers dairy, meat and an assortment of items along with a wide variety of fruits and veggies, so each box is completely customizable to meet the needs of individual families.

During our work together these past few months, we learned that Papa Spud’s believes in the importance of giving back not just during the holiday season, but all year long. In addition to serving Triangle residents and educating them about the importance of eating healthy and supporting local farmers, Papa Spud’s is giving back to our community in a significant way. Each week, Papa Spud’s donates an estimated 300 to 400 pounds of leftover food to the Interfaith Food Shuttle. Interfaith is an amazing organization and this donation, no doubt, has a huge impact on the programs and people they are able to support.

In addition to the weekly Interfaith donations, Papa Spud’s also supports various organizations and charities with food donations throughout the year. We salute Rob and his team for all they do to serve their customers, educate Triangle residents about the importance of eating local foods and by giving back to those in need. Here’s to a bountiful 2015!
