Zing! First Zambrero Comes to Raleigh

Zing! First Zambrero Comes to Raleigh

December 9, 2019January 31, 2023 Cherith AndesBlog, Clairemont Client News, Restaurant PR + Hospitality PRRaleigh PR, raleigh restaurants, restaurant marketing, Restaurant PR

We’re excited to announce one of our newest clients — and we feel like we need a sombrero and a kangaroo all at once to talk about them!

Zambrero, Australia’s largest Mexican franchise, is debuting its second location in America and first in the Southeast at One Glenwood in Raleigh, North Carolina.

What’s so cool about Zambrero (besides just about everything)?

Its “good for you” menu! (with “IQ Salsa”)

Zambrero backs its “good for you” menu with a critical differentiator: the restaurant doesn’t use fryers or grills. Instead, Zambrero cooks its meat using the sous-vide method, the process of vacuum-sealing meats with marinade and spices, submerging in hot water and cooking for up to 18 hours. Sous-vide produces tender, juicy and flavorful meats without the added carcinogens or fats of standard cooking methods.

Zambrero features fresh ingredients, superfood options and customizable dishes, such as burritos, bowls, tacos, nachos, dos capas and quesadillas. The menu includes proprietary sauces, hand-made guacamole and its famous Pepita Salsa — known as “the IQ Salsa” in Australia due to its protein-packed recipe. Guests can also enjoy a range of beers, Cayman Jack Margaritas, Honest Honey Green Tea, Vitamin Water, Bai and other non-alcoholic beverages.

Its Mission to Fight World Hunger.

A mission-driven concept, Zambrero offers a healthy superfood menu along with its Plate 4 Plate initiative in partnership with Rise Against Hunger. With each burrito, bowl or bottle of water purchased, Zambrero donates a meal to someone in need.

For several years, Zambrero has partnered with Rise Against Hunger to provide more than 34 million meals to countries in need with the goal to donate 1 billion meals by 2025. Founded in Canberra, Australia, Zambrero has quickly burgeoned to approximately 200 locations across Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and now the United States.

So What’s the Date?

Zambrero plans to open its doors in January 2020 at its location at 1 Glenwood Avenue, #105, Raleigh, NC 27603. This will be the first of 60-75 locations that Phoenix Restaurants, LLC plans to develop throughout the Carolinas, including locations in University Hill in Durham and Parkside Town Commons in Cary planned to open in spring or summer 2020.

We love a good grand opening for everything from wine bars to master-planned real estate communities! Check ’em out!

In The News: WakeMed Expands to Wendell

December 2, 2019January 31, 2023 Clairemont InternBlog, Clairemont Client News, Real Estate PRcommercial real estate marketing, commercial real estate PR, real estate PR, Wake Med, wendell falls

Extra! Extra! Clairemont client Wendell Falls — one of the largest master-planned communities in the Triangle — is brimming with news and real estate growth! In addition to breaking ground on a new charter school, the community unveiled its newest commercial partner — WakeMed Healthcare & Hospitals. So once again, we at Clairemont had the privilege of sharing its story of exciting growth far and wide.

In the below article from the Triangle Business Journal, read all about WakeMed’s addition that will continue to transform East Wake County into a destination hub.

Triangle health system plans expansion into ‘vibrant’ community

A Wake County health care provider plans to expand east of Raleigh following its purchase of 11 acres in the ongoing Wendell Falls development.

WakeMed has announced its plans to build medical offices and health services facilities “with potential for future expansion” in Wendell. The organization acquired the land this month, paying $3.67 million for the 11 acres off Wendell Valley Boulevard.

Wendell Falls is a master-planned community led by San Diego, California-based real estate company Newland Communities. The WakeMed property is situated in the phase of development known as The Collective – which will feature a mix of creative and professional office space, retail and hospitality.

“As a vibrant, growing community, Wendell Falls offers a wonderful opportunity to expand WakeMed’s footprint,” said Debra Laughery, vice president of marketing and communications for WakeMed Health & Hospitals. “We look forward to bringing exceptional care and services to the residents and families of Wendell Falls and the surrounding area.”

Altogether, plans for Wendell Falls call for thousands of homes and millions of square feet of commercials space across thousands of acres in the eastern Wake County town.

“Since opening in 2015, more than 750 families have moved into Wendell Falls, a growth rate that is increasing every month,” said Dan Klausner, vice president of commercial real estate for Newland. “With 3,500 planned homes in Wendell Falls, quality health care will be a critical cornerstone, and we’re excited to partner with WakeMed to offer these services to our community.”

Wendell Falls is owned in a joint venture between Newland and North America Sekisui House, LLC (NASH), the U.S. business unit and a subsidiary of Sekisui House, LTD., Japan’s largest homebuilder.

The community is designed to be a walkable live-work-play area for residents and a retail and entertainment destination for those living in and around the community.

The Wendell Falls development has seen multiple announcements in recent months.

In August, Cardinal Charter Academy of Cary announced a new location in the development. The school is expected to open by August 2020.

Cardinal will serve kindergarten through eighth grade, and developers hope it will be another incentive for residents to settle in the community east of Knightdale. Dan Klausner, director of development for Wendell Falls, previously said bringing high-quality education into the site was a necessity.

In September, Farmhouse Café opened its Wendell Falls community location to the public. The brainchild of Daniel Whittaker and Patrick Cowden, the co-owners of downtown Raleigh’s Pharmacy Café, began serving mixed dishes, salads and sandwiches in mid-September.

For WakeMed, the expansion into Wendell comes as the region’s health systems continue to compete for access to the Triangle’s growing population.

We love helping our clients tell their stories to the right audiences. Want to see how we can tell yours?

Let’s Talk!

News: Wendell Falls Welcomes New School

November 26, 2019January 31, 2023 Cherith AndesBlog, Clairemont Client News, Real Estate PRCardinal Charter Academy, commercial development pr, real estate PR, wendell falls

Shovels, hard hats … and a new start for education! Client Wendell Falls just broke ground on Cardinal Charter Academy, the first fully accredited charter school in East Wake County.

Located on-site at Wendell Falls in Wendell, North Carolina, Cardinal Charter Academy will be a tuition-free school for grades K-8 modeled after its flagship academy in Cary, North Carolina.

We loved working with both Wendell Falls and Cardinal Charter Academy to shape and share the story of their groundbreaking … and all it means for East Wake County. Check out this news segment from ABC 11!

What else is noteworthy about Cardinal Charter?

  • Enrichment Classes: As a rare 100-percent-accredited school, Cardinal Charter Academy at Wendell Falls will offer an individualized approach with enrichment classes, such as the arts and foreign languages.
  • Personalized Learning Plans That Increase Reading/Math Scores: Cardinal Charter Academy at Wendell Falls will implement technology as a fundamental tool and provide personalized learning plans that allow students to set, track and meet goals.
  • Cambridge International School Program: The flagship academy in Cary spearheaded the Cambridge International School status in Wake County as the first school east of Greensboro to be accepted into the program. Cardinal Charter Academy at Wendell Falls will also offer the Cambridge advanced course opportunity.

Congratulations to Wendell Falls and Cardinal Charter Academy!

We’ve done some other fun things with Wendell Falls to involve local media, including a square-dance competition. Check it out!

Seventy and Stronger Than Ever

Seventy and Stronger Than Ever

In a recent article on The Fine Line, client Carrie J. Knowles talks about embracing the milestone of turning 70 years old. However, Carrie’s philosophies on ways to make the most of your time as you age are valuable tips for a person of any age!

A former Piedmont Laureate, Carrie has penned countless stories, published five novels and earned more than 25 awards throughout her 45-year literary career.

Old is hot. Hot flashes. Hot topic.

In “Can We Live Longer but Stay Younger?” Adam Gopnik raises an interesting question: What if modern medicine and aging research could hold the clock steady on being middle-aged, thereby allowing us to get older without growing old? Think of being 70 or even 80 without worrying about climbing a flight of stairs or apologizing for being forgetful.

In May, the New York Times published two articles about aging in the style section: “Vanity Is Not a Deadly Sin. It’s One of Life’s Last Vital Signs,” by Ruth La Ferla, and “We Made Gray Hair Even Prettier With Pastels,” by Crystal Martin. Both articles made growing old and going gray sound like an invitation to a dress-up party.

I’m all for getting older with a little style in my step. For the first time in my life, thanks to the miracle of double cataract surgery, I can see well enough without glasses to artfully apply eye shadow and draw on a smooth bit of eyeliner. And you better believe I intend to fancy on some makeup every day for the rest of my life. It looks great. Makes me feel a touch glamorous and, most importantly, well-armored to go out into the world and have my say. You see, getting older, is no longer the voice-silencing, invisibility-inducing sentence it used to be.

Seventy is about more than feeling and looking good. Seventy is the new outspoken. And it’s about time.

Seventy is a privilege. It’s a gift. It’s about time we embraced that gift and used our years of making mistakes while doing some things right to be something better, do something bigger, and live larger, as though we don’t have enough time left to do anything else.

You think being 70 is hard? Try being 18. Can you imagine? Have you ever known such chaos? Such uncertainty? The stock market is bobbling at every tweet and tariff. Unemployment is up, then it’s down. Getting a college education costs more than ever before, and many are left paying off student loans for decades after graduation, making it impossible to get ahead, buy a house, or start a family. There’s climate change riding the winds of terrifying hurricanes, tornados, and flooding rains. There are whispers of war here, there, everywhere. School shootings — and guns — don’t get me started.

Too much is happening for us to be silent, and those of us lucky enough to be 70 have the protection of age to speak up. It’s time for us to step up to the plate, be the elders, the wise ones, the ones who have lived long enough to speak truth to power.

It’s time to find new ways to “act your age.”

1. Be a mentor. Find someone who can use your expertise, your help. It won’t be hard. Have coffee with them. Talk. Listen; especially listen. Offer support, direction, whatever is needed. It’s that helping hand thing and it works. When was the last time you had a conversation? A real one that mattered? This is your chance.

2. Pick an issue. Dealer’s choice. The environment. Politics. School lunches. Classroom size. Money for the arts. Guns. Voting rights. Climate change. Transportation. Health care. Pick one; then, do something about it. Now.

3.  Find a new hobby. It doesn’t matter whether it’s baking cakes, planting a garden, building birdhouses, or writing poems. Share what you love with someone. That’s how we build stronger communities. Make new friends. Create a kinder world.

4. Take care of yourself. Exercise even if you have never exercised before. Exercise your body — and your voice. Be strong. Be focused. Raise a little hell. Have a little fun, and don’t ever think for a minute that there’s nothing you can do to change things.

You’re 70 or maybe 80 or — hallelujah! — 90!

You’re not old. You’re one of the warriors.

All those years of living have prepared you for this chance to make a difference. Step out, step up, and speak up!

You’ll be surprised who is waiting to hear what you have to say.

Briar Chapel Nabs Spotlight in The N&O

June 24, 2019January 31, 2023 Cherith AndesBlog, Clairemont Client News, Real Estate PRBriar Chapel, Media Pitching, media relations, news coverage, real estate PR

One of Clairemont’s many strengths is media pitching: finding the right story and putting it in the right hands. We’re always excited to work with The News & Observer and love to see the spotlight on client Briar Chapel, one of the largest master-planned communities in the Triangle. See the original article, or check out the Briar Chapel news below!

Chatham community could see influx of senior housing and health care facilities

CHAPEL HILL

The drive south on U.S. 15-501 from Chapel Hill to Pittsboro could have once been described as rural, with fields and farmland stretching out along the roadway.

But now, it’s construction that catches your attention, with neighborhoods, restaurants and shops continuing to pop up — a direct result of the Triangle’s surging population moving southward from Chapel Hill, Durham and Wake County as land prices continue to rise.

That construction isn’t likely to slow down soon.

Newland, a real estate firm responsible for one of the largest communities around the Orange-Chatham county line, Briar Chapel, is set to bring more residential and retail development. Already it has built homes for thousands of residents there.

This time the firm is hoping to attract more retirees to the area, with an apartment project targeting residents ages 55 and up and an assisted living facility planned as part of its next expansion.

Construction on the apartment project, which will have 150 units and be managed by Liberty Healthcare, is expected to begin later this year and will one day feature a wellness facility, art and social programing, and an on-site chef. Newland noted that it is permitted for 350 units.

The assisted-living facility, which will include 105 nursing facility beds and 36 assisted-care beds, will go next to the apartment building. The living facility will have 24-hour care from nurses and will break ground in 2020.

Those two projects will open nearby the under-construction health sciences facility for Central Carolina Community College, a community college that serves Chatham County and two other counties.

Newland hopes that the addition of the training facility in the area, which is scheduled to open this fall, as well as an influx of elderly residents that are more likely to need health care, will attract doctors offices to open in the company’s planned retail projects.

With the addition of the 55-and-up community “there becomes a need with the health care industry,” said Dan Klausner, Newland’s vice president of commercial real estate. “And there’s not a whole lot of health care down this way.”

Currently, Klausner noted, there is not a critical mass of patients on the Chatham County side of U.S. 15-501 to convince health-care practices that they can compete with what already exists in nearby Chapel Hill.

“Chapel Hill has such a plethora of practices and specialists in the area that people haven’t made the jump across the boundary to Chatham County,” he said. “Some practices that we have talked to think the commute into Chapel Hill isn’t that far.”

Though, he added, that could change in a couple of years as Briar Chapel continues its expansion and projects like Chatham Park get off the ground. He said more residents are needed at “Fearrington and Briar Chapel and other communities, so that there are enough households to reach that critical mass.”

Chatham County has been one of the fastest-growing counties in the state in the past decade.

From 2010-18, the county’s population grew by nearly 15% — though most of that growth has really taken off in the past few years.

Just last year, Chatham was the fourth-fastest-growing county in the state, growing by 2.7%, according the U.S. Census Bureau. That rate bested both Durham and Wake counties, and the only county it trailed in the region was Johnston County, which grew by 3.2%.

If that growth continues, retail will also be needed in addition to the health care facilities, Klausner said. Newland, he said, currently has 15 acres near CCCC’s campus and the Liberty apartments set aside for retail.

Veranda, Briar Chapel’s current commercial section.

“Step by step it continues to grow,” he said, envisioning a future where 400 students are at CCCC and hundreds of residents shop and eat within walking distance of their classrooms or apartments.

“We are getting the interest, and it’s about making sure we are picking the right ones,” he said.

Just down the road, Newland has already successfully built one retail development, called The Veranda, that is home to restaurants and offices. Klausner said he thinks the area could support more coffee shops and restaurants.
